In Loving Memory

Here are some emails we have from new owners :

Just wanted to let you know Max and Lulu have settled in really well and are so happy. We have bought a load of new toys for them which they love and they seem so happy in themselves. We have got them into a routine now and they always know when its feeding time and love running round the house chasing after each other. We lost out last pet through illness and it was a heartbreaking time, and Max seems to know that I am still upset about our loss and comes to sit next to me all the time for a cuddle. They have made our house come back to life again and Julie (my girlfriend) always looks forward to coming home from work to see them. We are so grateful for all the help that you gave us when we went through the process of adopting them. You may remember me, I am Andy who does dog walking for you from time to time and brings in cat food. I am popping in this week to bring you some more cat food. Below is a picture of me so you know who I am and also a few pictures of Max and Lulu in their new home.

Hello! We adopted a kitten from your shelter three weeks ago and we named him Socks! At first he was very timid, and he still is, but he's coming out of his shell a bit now! He loves to play with his toys and have a cuddle and a bit of grooming! We took him home on his first day and he shot straight under the wardrobe for about an hour, then came out and had a look around the room. We all think he's enjoying his new home and there have been no problems at all.
We'd like to say thanks to the shelter aswell for a hassle-free adoption process!!!

Lots of love,

Socks and family!

Hello - we chose two kittens from your shelter about three weeks ago, and we just wanted to let you know how they are getting on. We have named them Tilda and Puck, and they are just simply gorgeous! They are so much fun, and have settled in beautifully. We were not sure how they would get on, as they from two different litters, but they play and sleep together constantly! We would have sent photos, but as we do not have your email address, I can't attach anything to this (sending through your website). If you have time, and could send us the email address we would love to send some pictures. Mostly we wanted to say how impressed we are with the care and service you provide. The way you look after the animals in your care is excellent - the way they are housed and treated is a shining example. Also you and your staff are superb - we were welcomed and treated so well by everyone, even though we took so long choosing, you were patient and kind with us. The advice you gave us was invaluable and informative. Thank you so much - from Jo-Anne, David, Tilda and Puck!

We've been meaning to send this message for ages but life is very hectic now with our new dog Sadie. We got herback in February - she's a very pretty long legged black labrador x. She is adored by alland I think she adores everyone back. We spend much of our time taking her on excitingwalks, socialising with other friends and families dogs and going to dog training (lastweek she was moved up a class from beginners to improvers!) We wanted to say thanks for looking after Sadie so well before we got her. x

Adopted sweep on 4 June 2008 who we have now renamed Salem. He has settled in very well and he is extremely loving. Thank you Tameside Animal Shelter, you are doing a great job. p.s. hope siren finds a new home soon, he is such a character

We adopted 'lucky'a lovely black 12 month old tom cat on the 18th May. Our main concern was that we already have a dog (murphy)and wondered if they would get on with each other, we need not have worried, as soon as we let lucky out of his carrying basket he walked over to murphy and the y have been the best of friends ever since. Thank you all at tameside for your helpful and friendly advice. At the momment I can hear my wife shouting at lucky, he has jumped onto the swing lid bin in the kitchen and pulled it over. I had better go and help tidy up.

Hi all Just thought I would write and give you an update on how Lewis is doing. We took Lewis home at the end of November with a bit of a wild streak in him, but perseverance has paid off. What a wonderful dog he is. He's really loyal to his dad especially but give all the family real pleasure. He's such a character. We have taken him out in our touring caravan and he just loves the freedom - only some of the caravan wardens don't appreciate the holes he leaves in the nicely mown grass!!! He's made plenty of new friends on our trips. He went for his first grooming this weekend and came back spin and span, looking very spoilt with a red bow for good behaviour. I will send some photos as soon as I manage to download them and you will be able to see for yourself what a handsome chappy he is. Best wishes to you all. Elaine

Great to see your website , We adopted a gorgeous staffy cross from you two years ago,she is a beautiful dog and has brought us a lot of joy ,good luck with your new kennels you do a great job.

I adopted Marley on 14th February 2008. And she has settled in very well, she is a little gem, and i couldn't have wished for a better cat. She is now 8 months old and she is a very loving little cat. Marley is getting mischievous more everyday. She always looks at the fish as if there her next dinner. She loves cuddles and she is very happy were she is now. Thank you Tameside Animal Shelter for letting me rehome a little kitten who needed a loving home, which she now has. I would recommend this shelter to anyone who wants a cat or dog. from Stacey.

Just a little pic of Buddy to let you see how he's coming on - I think you'll agree he's extremely handsome! He's still doing really well (a few things to iron out but nothing major, just down to being a giddy pup).

just a quick email to say thankyou very much...toby is adorable from the moment i met the barky little sod...i fell in love...he took only a matter of hours to settle he spent the night on the bed with us and slowly got used to titch the day after. He has adjusted so so well he is cracking with her be it a little vocal when playing :] but he has completely filled the void. He now is very settled with us putting him on his lead going for walks and is getting better with new people as long as they are slow we now have no barking and no snapping he is brilliant with the neighbours children and he enjoys strokes from them and insecuritys he has had in the past seem to be fading he is coping with new situations very well and is doing things at his own pace...very quick he is getting better off his lead now listening to us in the park and at home...i have attatched a photo of lauren and toby :] thankyou so much again he really is a lovely little fellow :]

Hello, Just a short mail to say thank you for taking Oliver (Bichon Frise) brought into you in December. I know we did the right thing as we were not at home during the day and couldnt' give him the time he needed. I just hope he has found a wonderful new home with people who love him as much as we do. We think about him constantly and would love to know if you have heard how he is doing. We would also like to know if you run a charity shop as we have some clothes and shoes available. We will also be making a donation to your new building project. I am so happy there are people like you around who put so much of their lives into helping animals. Thank you again Tracey Ward

Hi, from the Donald family and Millie, Just to let you know, I left Tameside Animal Shelter last Saturday, 19th January, after only arriving there that morning! I just love my new home!! I am well fed and looked after and I get so much love from my new owners! I was very timid at first but now I know the house and my owners, I am becoming VERY cheeky!! but no-one minds! The vet was pleased with me, but he gave me an injection and I cried all the way home! I soon forgot that when my owners cuddled me!! I think you all do a great job at your shelter and I'm glad I met you!! Love from Millie and the Donald family xx

We have got a miniture jack russell who we love to bits she is a lovely dog but is very timid she has been a brilliant dog but has started to be a bit impatient with our 4 year old and we are getting a bit worried that she might snap on her, she has growled a few times but we can't take the risk in case she hurts my 4 year old she loves adults and she loves attention we are really worried i am just wondering if you would be able to help us thank you

Dear all,
Miley still doing well. She is seems really happy and is getting very cheeky. She now crawls up our legs and body and sits on our shoulder when we are busy getting ready for work and school. She is now well and truely part of the family. We have bought her a scratching post with toys on, have given her cotten reels and a small ball to play with, which she loves. She gets very excited and giddy and really makes us laugh. My Mum says we are happy for you to use the email we sent you on your web site. will keep in touch. Love Leah and Miley.

Hi there We picked our kitten up Monday afternoon, my daughter has named her Peri. She is an absolute joy, has used her litter tray from the start and is so loving and playful. She slept in my daughters room the first night, but now we can leave her downstairs and she is fine, always pleased to see us, and is even getting used to the dogs! Thank you so much for letting us look after her Keep up all your good work!

Just a short hello to update you! Campbel has had a lovely Christmas and New Year, he enjoyed chewing a few presents he shouldn't have and earned himself a more secure place to stay whilst we are out but he happily slept through the new year fireworks! He tolerates being poked and pulled by the kids with a look on his face that could only be pleading and barks for the sofa only to lie at your feet when he's told 'no'! He's learning quickly but not as quick as us!! Hopefully we'll manage to stay one step ahead! Weve taken him to the beach (at Formby) which he loves and he's made friends with some local dogs that seem to be out at the same time every day. In general he's hard work but well loved already, (bit like the kids) thank you for bringing us together!

Just a quick note to let you know what a great site you have created and for a great cause. I got my dog (wheaten/cairn cross) Scruffy from you nearly 3 years ago and don't know what I'd do without him now. We are so glad we chose to rescue and so glad we came to you! Thanks, and keep up the fantastic work.

Just wanted to update you on how Rosie is doing. We got her from you in October last year, when she was called Sandy. She is doing brilliantly and has brought so much joy and companionship to us, we can let her off the lead on bank top which is near our home on currier lane ashton. She has made lots of new doggy friends and has become very sociable among the pack that she runs round with. She loves finding the mud puddles and ripping soggy grass up and ragging it, which gives her a very comical mischievous look. She smiles such a lot and has a very soft cuddle dog toy which has a squeek in it's bottom and she's not happy until she's found it. We love her so much and it feels like we've always had her, once again thank you, never thought we would find a dog so easy and calm. She is brilliant. I'm hoping to start agility training with her soon, give us both something to do and keep her and me fit

This is just a quick email to let you know how Buddy is doing so far. What a fantastic dog! He has a beautiful temperament and is so good natured with everyone, it feels like he has been with us for months, not three days! He loves to play with Cracker, they chase each other around the garden and play tug of war with chewsticks. Visitors and other kids don't seem to bother him at all, he is very chilled, and he loves to cuddle up with you on the settee. He is good in the house, isn't destructive, we just need to get on top of the housetraining in the night time, though we have only had two or three accidents during the day. He has had his vet check and his first inoculations (vet seems to think there is a bit of lurcher in there somewhere).

I will send on some pics in the next week or so, but wanted to say many thanks for giving us the opportunity to have Buddy in our lives, and keep up the good work!

Hi Just a note to say that I had my little dog Daisy, from you on the 16th July last year. A mostly black cross terrier. She settled in right away, as though she had always been with me, really lovely and a joy to have around! Regards Kath

Hi folks, Just a quick email with an update and thank you! I had a pooch called Milly off you last year (renamed her Betty as she wasn't responding to Milly and it suits her better!). She's doing great - housetrained (touch wood), good on the lead, and really responding well to training. She's keeping us busy, but worth every minute. Chuffed to bits with her, and she seems happy as well. Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone at the centre, and to drop you a couple of pictures of her in her new home. http://img229.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img2569di4.jpg http://img150.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img2571gm9.jpg We'll be up there shortly, as we need to pick Viv's brains on something! Noticed you've got another American Bulldog cross on there - good luck rehoming him - they're cracking dogs; really affectionate and great fun. All the best, and keep up the good work Jim

THIS MORNING SHE WAS A DELIGHT, SHE WAS SO PLEASED TO SEE US AND JUST WANTED TO BE CUDDLED AND HELD AND WAS PUURRING LIKE CRAZY. WILL KEEP YOU POSTED. KIND REGARDS SUE FIRTH AND LEAH.

We adopted 2 cats from you in April 2005 two tabby male brothers that we named Mitzy and Mickey, sadly Mitzy passed away but we still have Mickey, I remember we had not long moved into our first home and I had always grown up surrounded by animals and we decided to pay you a visit. You walked us down to the cattery and showed us all the residents - the last kennel you came to there was not a cat in- sight - then you opened the hatch and inside where the two most gorgeus cats I had ever seem - identical tabby brothers that was it we had to bring them home. They soon settled in and we had them both neutered and eventualy they were allowed outside. Mickey was a shy boy and happily let Mitzy rule the roost - Mitzy was into everything and soon learned how to open the bin and empty the contents all over the floor, he also liked to wander and one dreaded night in July 2005 we got a phone call to say that Mitzy had been hit by a car and they had left his body by the side of the road. It was devastating to have to go and find him, I was in tears for weeks after that and I think people thought I was slightly potty - but anyone who is an animal lover will know what I mean - animals become a major part of your life in no time at all and losing one is like losing a member of the family. Mickey was lost without Mitzy so in the September we re-homed a tabby female kitten named Whiffy through a friend and they soon became the best of freinds. Then we adopted Angel a female springer spaniel from you on the 23rd of December 2006 Angel is the loveliest dog you could ever hope to meet. We have had hours of fun with her she is never happier than splatting around in mud looking for a tennis ball! she gets on very well with our cats - so well in fact they all try and squash on the same bed and work together to open the kitchen cupboards and steal the cat and dog biscuits! I guess the reason behind me writing this saga is that without rescue centres like yourself these animals might never be given the chance of finding a new loving home and would not have the chance to bring pure joy into our lives, you truly do an amazing job. Thankyou. Carolyn & Dan and the gang (Mickey, Whiffy, Molly & Angel)
